Ever since I started driving, I have always looked to see if my turn signal’s pace ever matched the car in front of mine’s turn signal at stop lights. I have yet to find a car with the exact same rythym and relay as mine. Am i the only one who does this? And have you found your automobile’s soul mate?
Chronicles of Bruiser
April 18, 2007Today I read the best damn story I have read in a while.
Do yourself a favor and go here to download “Stories of a Street Sweeper: The Chronicles of Bruiser”:
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE STORY
its a downloadable word document, its long, but is the absolute best story I have read in a LONG time.
You may think that stories about a street sweeper wont be entertaining, but you will enjoy it, thats a promise!
DO IT NOW, RIGHT NOW!
i love warm weather
March 27, 2007spring and summer are my absolute most favorite times of year. I love when it gets hot and you sweat a ton even when its just driving across town with the windows down. i love pollen. i love working 10 hour days instead of 6 hour days that i have been through the winter. I love doing landscaping and being able to see tings bloom and everything come alive and the first sight of green grass.
Even better is the fact that every single band starts their spring ans summer tours and tons of new CDs get released.
Here’s some awesome shows coming up that I will definitely be attending:
Saturday, March 31 – Anberlin and Jonezetta with Bayside and Meg and Dia
Anberlin just released their newest CD called Cities and honestly except for the last two songs was somewhat lower than my expectations. However, the last song on the CD is called “*Fin, and is one of the most epic songs i have ever heard and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Anberlin is known for having one of the best live, energetic, and craziest rock shows ever, so I’m planning on being there and taking pictures. Jonezetta is a great dance-rock band from my family’s hometown of Jackson, MS. I remember listening to them before they got signed.
Saturday, March 31 – Comeback Kid and It Dies Today
Comeback Kid is possibly the best punk/hardcore band out today. Its unfortunate they’re playing the same night as Anberlin, but I’m definitely gonna try and catch them.
Wednesday, April 18 – Brand New and Manchester Orchestra
Brand New’s latest CD called The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me has already won my nomination for best cd of the year 2007. I honestly don’t expect any other cd coming out this year to top it, except for maybe the new As Cities Burn CD coming out this summer. The Brand New disc actually changed my life, which is weird to say but music does that to me. It has the most faith and searching influenced lyrics I ever heard from a “non-Christian band”. The new Manchester Orcestra (an awesome indie band from downtown Atlanta) also has awesome faith based lyrics on their newest CD I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child.
Wednesday, May 2 – Thrice and Norma Jean with the Receiving End of Sirens
Thrice’s front-man, Dustin Kensrue, is quite possibly the best singer-songwriter from a faith band that is not in the CCM circle. Thrice’s last CD Vheissu is one of the most cohesive and well-written albums I have heard in my life, and I am eagerly anticipating their next album which is planned to be a 4-disk earth, wind, water, and fire concept album that I expect to set the stage for all rock albums to come because of its innovation. Norma Jean is also a live show that I have waited a long while to see.
Tuesday, May 15 – As Cities Burn and Cool Hand Luke with Olympia
As Cities Burn is a band that I’ve known for some time now as my cousin’s band used to play almost every weekend with them before they got signed. They recently lost their front-man though, and I’m excited to see what they sound like now. Their last CD was incredible, and even that is an understatement. Cool Hand Luke is another awesome indie-band with great faith-based lyrics.
Wednesday, May 16 -Underoath and Maylene & the Sons of Disaster
Maylene, a southern rock band from B-Ham, is finally going on tour with Underoath, which is something my friends and I have been waiting for for almost a year and a half now. The guys in Maylene are some sweet dudes, and have a special bond with me and my ex-band mates because they came upon the car accident where we lost our guitarist. Do yourself a favor and check out the song “Is That a Threat or a Promise?” on iTunes, which is the song they wrote about our loss and vocalist Dallas Taylor’s prayer as he watched the commotion at the accident scene.
If you havent checked out any of these band’s… DO IT. NOW. SERIOUSLY.
and come to a show!
Reign Over Me
January 22, 2007I’m excited for this movie:
Click here for trailer. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0490204/trailers-screenplay-E30807-10-2)
It looks really good.
hair cut
October 30, 2006well last week i got a haircut, ~11 inches in 13 minutes, gone.
click and ENJOY!
as for this past weekend, it was again a failure for my fantasy football teams, as well as my two college teams. Mississippi State almost pulled the out against Kentucky but ended up losing. Southeastern Louisiana lost terribly, as expected. Fortunately though, the Atlanta is doing decent this year. Sunday the band was in Nashville recording for our upcoming cd due out sometime around June, while the EP/demo will be here within the next two weeks. Its sweet, you’ll like it.
My work hours got cut in half for the rest of the year as grass is dying, so i have nothing to landscape, which means i have barely any income until late February. And that is not awesome by any means.
If you live in the Atlanta area, come out to Bones in Smyrna tomorrow night (Halloween) at 7:00 and Any Given Moment play some tunes. Its 18+ and 6 bucks, and should be a blast.
dignity/respect
October 23, 2006When i need to waste time, I’ve found that the easiest way to do it is by browsing the Car Lounge on VWVortex, a volkswagen owner forum. Today there was a post especially interesting that was so awesome it deserved to be commented about again.
A regular poster on there has a wife who is disabled pretty severely and requires a handicap parking spot to get in and out of their car. Story goes that there was a pompous mid-30 year old with no handicap tags or signs sitting in his C5 corvette listening to music, in a handicapped parking spot. The poster stopped behind him and asked him if he could move to which the ‘vette owner replied with very sarcastic responses along the lines of “Just move along, buddy.” and “Get lost”.
Now comes the happy ending: fortunately at just that point in time one of the town’s cop cars turned to come down the aisle toward the handicapped area and the ‘vette owner very promptly got what he deserved (a $200 plus ticket and points on his license).
then the poster had this to say:
The way I see it, we’re in an era of increasing public disrespect for one another’s dignity, and of the rules and laws that help bind us together as a civilized society. To even scold a misbehaving child is nowadays regarded as some kind of insult to the kid, whereas in times past it was expected for an adult to cuff a bratty child when necessary. This served to correct the child’s course, so to speak, and get him/her back on the right track.
We’ve been effectively banned from doing this now, increasingly, for a couple of decades now, and we’re all “reaping the whirlwind” so to speak, for our permissiveness and our anything goes attitude toward our own behaviour in public. The idiot parking in reserved spaces, just because he feels like it, is fairly typical of this pervasive attitude. By calling these people out when they insult the public in this way, we all can provide perhaps enough “course correction” to avoid a future of chaos and disorder. We’re closer to such a state than anyone really likes to think about; truth be told. I hope it’s not too late.
and i thought was extremely insightful. and this is not even a “Christian” post by any means. It is just what should be done correctly in our society but can rarely be found anywhere nowadays. We cant even get r-e-s-p-e-c-t right, and somehow people dont think anything is wrong with us.
